If a Victorian era house is long and narrow, then you can set it up the long way if you want to play. You're being very funny with the 6 foot space requirements, acting like your house was built for hobbits. If someone who is 6 feet tall can lay down (AKA if you can fit a bed in your house, then you have the space to play.

Long and narrow with a window at one end, and the door down the other. Unless you put your TV in the window bay, then no, you can't play lengthways.

You're also not using maths properly. Yes, if somebody can lie down, you have 6', but then you need to factor in the width of a sofa, and then usually a TV cabinet/bench, unless you are using a wall mount. Those two will easily use up another 2-3', meaning you need a 9' room to get the absolute minimum of Kinect space, and a 12' room to get the ideal (MS say 8-9'). Even then you'll be right up against your sofa with your knees.

Simply put, Kinect is a space hog. It needs lots of empty space, and not everybody has that, nor can re-arrange their house for a 129 gaming accessory...

Server class cpu, ram, motherboard, ps, and case. That's why Mac Pros are so expensive.

It's not meant to be a consumer level box.

Hence that's why the layman will think its overpriced.

No. Even if you factor in the extra cost for the heavy-duty PSU and aluminum case, there is no reason why the base-spec model could not come in at $1999

And the 3.2GHz W3565 upgrade is a real rip-off. $400 more for a CPU that costs exactly the same as the base W3530?

And the Dell would still end up being around 1000$ cheaper.

$1000 is pushing it, but $500 cheaper, sure.

I have a feeling iLife 07 will be included with Leopard. If they are indeed waiting to ship them together it would really be horrible to wait until say April and then turn around and expect people to buy iLife 08 in 8 months.

My gut feeling is iLife 07 will be a part of Leopard and then back to the normal releases after.

I play guitar mainly, and although I can tap out melodies easily enough on a keyboard I am not proficient enough [yet] to play it a standard anywhere near my guitar playing. I also don't read/write notation (and have no particular desire to - call me a philistine if you wish!). So for people like me who want to be able to input/record notes live, it would sure beat mapping the notes to the qwerty-board. Presumably this idea could use something to make it velocity sensitive too. I think someone else mentioned using it to trigger stuff off in a live setting too. Plus this is ONE idea for something that could have many uses - if you don't see the point, fine, don't use it, you could use it for something else, like assigning pre-set value changes etc to already-input notes for example :)

OK whatever works for you. i was just making the point that with the current top of the range software, this would make no leaps. Unlike other programs which would benefit a lot (like the people who use final cut and were talking about volume mixers etc). With out current "best-of-line" music software, this is useless.

What do Mac users do when the Windows Virus of the Month strikes the office?

    They keep working...

True. You have a very good point I don't argue against. Windows takes much more maintenance. However, the security for a small business is not that hard to control for admins. Antivirus applications combined with strict security policies are very effective. Clients don't have admin rights, and that helps prevent dangerous applications from being installed.

But going to the Mac simply to lower the threat of viruses is still not the most efficient choice in our business. That is my point, and a point most business use in making purchasing decisions. They cost savings of a better secuered OS (OS X) is not worth losing some core applications.

He'll probably only tell half the story and you'll have to buy the updated edition to hear it all.

More realistically, you'll have to pay $1.99 for the errata in a year or two that fixes all the typos....because, you know.

The man was trying to get away from a hostile situation. In this case, "winning" means the whole thing dissipates and they each go their separate ways. The alternative is that he has to keep fighting with her.

Or he could have tried to walk away instead, or call the police, or found some other way of leaving the area.

If she kept trying to keep at him, he could have sued later on for false imprisonment (which she technically did while on the hood of his car), but the answer wasn't to drive, which puts a life in danger and escalates the situation above that which he was in. You can use reasonable force under the circumstances, and it simply is not reasonable to use potentially lethal force to escape a situation where you are at most being irritated and inconvenienced.

I have been down 580 many times, and what he did is truly harrowing. The fact that she survived is amazing enough with the wind speeds and curves that predominate that area.

Sadly, I remember reading an article a while back that said the number one import beer in the U.K. was...Budweiser. Not the Czech version, but the Anheuser-Busch version. There also stats showing how much their sales were going up, while sales of Guinness were down all around the U.K. It was very depressing. All those lovely beers to import from their own back yard, and Budweiser is the number one import? I haven't seen any numbers on the rest of the EU, though.

    I... don't understand.

I've updated my MBP 1.83 Core Duo without any problems. It's been running now for 4 hours. The temperature stayed the same, but I have reapplied the thermal compund in the past, so heat hasn't been an issue since.

Somebody told me the old shuffle automatically converted songs into 128kbs AAC while you are adding it to the shuffle, even if they were of a much higher bitrate or saved in another format. I wonder if the new one does the same thing. It would be nice to keep my songs ALAC on my harddisk without wasting too much memory when I add it to the shuffle, where sound quality does not matter much.

Quick questions - How does folding with multiple GPU in a rig work? Do you use one GPU client and all the GPUs fold that one WU faster or do you use a GPU client for each card?

i seriously effing hope it's more than improvements to file sync'ing, spotlight, and virtual desktops. that's pathetic. we need a revolutionary OS revision.

I was just going to say the EXACT same thing! You said it perfectly, whenpaulsparks! That's right, I don't want to see Steve Jobs demo some new Spotlight/Sherlock. I want to see revolutionary, fricken awsome, Vista-crushing, earth shaking features, a totally revamped and polished GUI, Enterprise features, etc. Come on Apple! Don't dissapoint me!

We get it. You side with the lady of the situation because you think it's reasonable for her to believe a car with a driver wouldn't move.I don't think you do "get it". I side with the view that whether the victim could be reasonably expected to have acted differently in her own interests or not, has absolutely no bearing on the degree of guilt of the lunatic who drove at over 100 mph with his wife clinging to his car. Your opinion of her judgement is utterly irrelevant.
