I got my Finger Printing notice today and I was comparing it with the 485 receipt. The 485 receipt had A# as A9xxxxxxx ( A with 8 digits) as the receipt number while the FP notice had A09xxxxxxx as the number.
The FP notice has a "0" after the "A" and the 485 notice does not have that 0. All the digits are the same but for the 0. Any one has it similar. do i need to worry abt it? any suggestions? You think i need to get it corrected?
-Ajaygc
485 received July 27, 07
485 Receipt date - Aug 27, 07
FP issued - Sep 18, 07
Many people including me too had same issue, don't need to worry....

When I went to my county health dept to get vaccination shots (for medical exam), they asked me to see the civil surgeon first, "else you will pay lot more for shots that you do not need". I gave them the standard list (MMR, Polio, DTaP, Influenza type B, Hepatitis B), and there are a few more in (page 3 of) I-693 form (http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-693.pdf). Someone on this thread (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showthread.php?t=5553) (second-last post) says you may need a shorter list based on your age group. Did anyone recently take these shots, and can she/he give the correct list here?
Thanks.
Thanks.

USCIS is increasing fees of various applications from 23, November 10
USCIS - Fact Sheet: After Public Comment, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services Announces Final Rule Adjusting Fees for Immigration Benefits (http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=5be73dc5cb93b210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCR D&vgnextchannel=68439c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1 RCRD)
Is there anyway we can find the fee strcutrure that was inplace in 1999, 2000. Later there was an increase around 2001 i think. Then onwards every couple of years fee has been increasing continuosly for 129, 131, 140, 485, 765 . May be more categories that might be applicable for employment based immigration.
My point is if we can present the facts in a nice manner to IV core team, may be they can come up with a plan to shed more light, potentially plan of action

Hi everyone,
I'm thinking of going into graduate school next year under F-1 status, which presumably should last until the end of my program in 5-8 years. As many of us are painfully aware, students aren't allowed to work except on-campus or as part of approved OPT and CPT programs.
My question is: is it possible for me to take out a TN (NAFTA) visa during the summer of one of my years so that I can work? F-1 and TN are both non-dual intent, so is it possible?
Thanks,
Vince

My Wife got an RFE on her Medical. Her RFE is
A review of your file indicates that you submitted a medical examination completed by designated civil surgeon. however, the civil surgeon failed to complete the immunizations supplement to Form I-693.
Please return to the civil surgeon so that civil surgeon can administer appropriate vaccinations.
I know she did not take Measles Vaccine as it she was pregnant that time.
My wife is currently in India. My questions are
1) Does she need to go through complete medical examination again? will it be enough to just send documentation regarding missing vaccine. (There is no info given in RFE regarding what is incomplete)
2) can she do any thing about medical exam in India. I mean can she get a certificate from India?
3) can we ask for additional time to respond to RFE? If yes is it Advisable and safe? How much additional time can be requested?
4) If she has to travel back, she has to travel on AP as My H1 transfer is pending. So my question is what happens if her H4 gets approved before she comes here. Does she need to apply H4 again?
5) If my H1 transfer does not get approved till she comes back, My understanding is, once H4 gets approved it automatically overrides Parolee status. Am i correct?
6) while coming on AP what documents she need to carry. Does she need to have My employement letter, any thing else?
I appreciate any help about my questions.

Minolta is about to enter the fray with a new DSLR. Get the story here (http://www.dphoto.us/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=171&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0).
Congrats all Minolta users, I know you've been waiting for this for a long time!
I hope this is a winner, I really liked Minolta cause they ALWAYs gave the most camera at the best price. And their film cameras always screamed of class!
Lets hope this camera can live up to my expectations, I just don't know how that image stabilization will work.

As per my knowledge you do not need a transit visa for Dubai and Abu Dhabi. I traveled to India recently through Abu Dhabi and did not need one.

So are these different from the finger prints that we take for EAD? For people who got their priority date current, do they ask for a separate finger prints again? Does anyone can shed some light on this?
Yes the finger printing for EAD is type 2 and for I485 it is type 3. They are different.
Photos are different (this is an example)
.. in I485, nose ring was OK,
.. in EAD, nose ring to be removed
Finger Prints
.. in I485 all the fingers rolled seperately (10), the four fingers (2) - might be missing some more
.. in EAD, index, non rolled (1)
When fingerprinting was paper based, it used to repeat every 15 months as paper print fades away(life of paper based). With electronic image, 15 months might not be required

Immigration Visa Attorney Blog Has Just Posted the Following:
http://www.immigrationvisaattorneyblog.com/Magnify%20Glass.jpgIn our blog of yesterday (http://www.immigrationvisaattorneyblog.com/2010/04/border-guards-will-finally-use.html), 1 April 2010, we mentioned the new screening procedures at US ports of entry (POE). Fong & Chun's clients travel a great deal, passing through Los Angeles and other immigration ports of entry. As lawyers to so many travelers, we try to provide accurate information about border issues. We have learned a little more about the new screening protocol.
In the past, all citizens of certain countries believed to be supporters of terrorism would all be scrutinized indiscriminately. Cuba, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, and Sudan are widely believed to have been on this list of soi-disant unfriendly countries. Citizens of other countries -- perceived as "friendly" to the USA -- would be subject to less scrutiny.
The new POE screening procedures use intelligence-based threat assessments. This information will be applied to all persons arriving at a POE, including Americans. If border guards have intelligence that -- let's pretend for a moment -- a university-age male student from Africa might be trying to engage in dangerous activity, then the border guards would be on the lookout for university-age male students from Africa. In contrast, university-age male students from, say, Malaysia, Mxico, Moldova, Monaco, or Myanmar would not be subject to the same scrutiny.
This new, intelligence-based approach makes the most of the information provided by US intelligence sources without painting everyone with an indiscriminately broad brush. --jcf
