It doesnt matter who the President is, on issues of legal skilled immigration.
Immigration reform, like any other big reform, needs changes in laws, which needs initiations and actions from CONGRESS.
In Congress, we have a presistent problem of a filibustering senate.
What we need in 2008 elections is the kind of senators who oppose us to lose elections and pro-immigration senators to win elections. Not only that, if one party gets over 55-57 senators, then filibuster threat is mitigated severly, because its easy to find 3-4 senators from minority party to break ranks and vote FOR a particular bill or amendment.
So what you need is a heavily tilted senate that has over 55 senators of just one party so that they can overcome filibuster and legislate big fixes for a change rather than naming post-offices and passing budgets.
The senate has 100 seats, with each senator facing election every 6 years. So each election cycle (every 2 years) there are one third of senators facing re-election.
This time, there are 34 senators facing re-election. Out of this 22 are Republicans and 12 are Democrats. Republicans have more seats to defend then Democrats. Plus about 4-5 Republicans are retiring so its easier to pick up those seats for Democrats than to beat a sitting senator.
If a Democratic tide takes place, then senate could tilt heavily Democratic in 2008 and would take care of filibuster issue where each measure needs 60 votes to pass. Nonetheless, you have to remember that Democrats or Republicans are easily divided when legislating immigration and it has a way of dividing parties like no other. Last year, Immigration CIR bill faced opposition from both sides - Republican and Democratic.

It not the right time to start campaign. All policians will be busy in elections an they may not hear waht we say. After elections may be the right time to do.

Also since you are a dentist and are working in the medical field, I am just wondering as to whether you have been able to inform other medical professionals, affected by retrogression and skilled immigration issues, about the efforts undertaken by IV.
Anyway, sorting out your original issue via an attorney takes immediate precedence.

I am 100% sure , H4 visa holders cannot work in any position which pays them. It is a violation of the visa.
Does that also apply to a case where the person is employed in another country and getting paid there? What about a case where the H4 holder travels to their home country and works for 3 months at a local company and gets paid for it?
Correct me if I am wrong but I would think the rule only applies if you work and earn money in the US.

Is this an inside joke? I'm missing the part where anybody said anything about using tables on buttons.

No I am not a research fellow. Just Telecomm Engineer who has Master's Degree from US. I just interpreted Research Item in 221G Green Document as my Thesis work and explained it in the research statement along with the other documents.

OK, I think the easiest way to deal with this is to look at the actual filing receipt for the I-485. If the receipt was for an amount reflecting the old fee schedule, then you need to pay for a new I-765 petition. If you paid the $1010 new filing fee, you would be okay with not paying.

Thanks god_bless_you for you response. So it appears that I either have to have a valid H1 or EAD on hand in order to work.
If you are extending the H1B, however, there is a grace period of 200 some day where you can work without a valid H1B while the H1B extension is pending. Isn't there a grace period if you are changing from H1B to EAD? From what you are saying, there isn't.

I enjoy shooting white objects, particularly snow and white flowers, because it's difficult to get the exposures right and to avoid blowing out highlights. However, I'm never happy with the results I get when I process the images in Photoshop. Below is a shot of an Angel's Trumpet bloom I shot the other day. The challenge is to download the RAW file (link below) and process it to either show me that it can be better than my effort or to confirm for me that I'm on target with my image processing. If you post your version, please also post details of what you did in Photoshop so I can try to replicate it. Have fun and thanks.

My PD is oct 2004 it is way-off from the current priority dates according to the visa bulleting, but still I received the EAD for only one year(approval date: 9/11/2008). Did you receive any positive info from the INFO-PASS appointment?

That's the only logical thing to do right now, sending original EAD might be a bit risky.....i will update after my info pass appointment.

I called TSC, mine and my wife's application is pending secrutiy clearance.

Probably ur 485 is going be approved soon!We had only one soft LUD after fp in our 485s on 7th sep 2007,and no luds on i-140 and i-131 till date??

if you want to get something from India. I think DHL is ok so far for me. But make sure that you are shipping it from the DHL main center .Never ever do it from normal (shop)braches as they would take their own sweet time to deliver them to main center.

guess what i have a question. this is what happened. we are married in india quite sometime back, however, we had no marriage certificate and could not get one from india after trying for a long time. so we got married again here itself some weeks back. we had been filing tax as a couple until now. how to amend that?

Hi,
I got RFE as PAchai_Attai, the difference is he got NOID.
My attorney has submitted evidences a week ago, still now no updates on my 485.
I have not got tracking # from attorney, he sent email that he submitted evidences. He said he can not check which is my track # used to my case in his office.
He said I have to wait long time to see updates on my case, becuase USCIS is receiving applications in flood.
These Evidences supposed to received by USCIS before Aug 13th. My case is at NSC.
I am in confusion that how to deal this.
Please advise.
