Thanks! I was waiting for the sunset over the city last night and the clouds screwed me. So I stuck around in the cold and took some night shots. Here's another from the same bench that I didn't like as much.

No, agreed, the first one is much better. I like the emptiness contrasted with the big city sky. It gives it a nice, romantic and almost nostalgic feeling.
Here's one from my latest concert shoot, Streetlight Manifesto. I had forgotten how much fun ska punk was! These guys were all over the place. I got lucky with this shot and timed it just when someone else released their flash from a P&S.

I'm disappointed at thing along with the other updates. I preferred the old nanos.

I really hope you're being funny. You're a much more active member than I, but it's "fliquo.". Someone even has a sig stating something like, "the screensaver is fliquo, the answer is always fliquo."

You have to consider the problems that Apple has had with heat and portables of late. There would likely be heat issues with such a portable, which makes it even more plausible that Apple won't make such a portable.
I think this 10.5" 3lbs sounds possible. I don't think they would ever try to fit it with high-end proc's which would be like begging for heat issues. That Lifebook mentioned earlier is also running with "only" 1.2GHz Pentium M which I'm sure is enough for a machined sized that small. But 2000$ is quite a big price to pay. That's why I think this could be a place for Apple to take control over. But not anytime soon though.

I figured it would sell out quick...I tried to get approval from my boss this morning, and even said it would sell out in a day or two to rush the decision...unfortunately, I should have said hour or two!

Even though iTunes says that 5g ipods are up to date software version 1.2 is in there...
You must restore the ipod and it will restore using software update 1.2
note that this does NOT give search function, but it does provide compatability for games and the newly released 640x480 movies/videos

I haven't read the whole thread, but will throw in my two cents on the original topic. I think it's fair for MS to charge considerably more for an OS that represents a few years of work than Apple charges for their yearly OS. I prefer Apple's, and I buy each new Apple OS as it comes out, but I still think it's not fair to compare cost straight away. Microsoft's multi-level charging does seem a bit extreme though.

I am glad to see someone else is a little confused and it wasn't just me. I have seen the 1.1 and 1.8, but not the 1.3 million batteries. I just want to know which number it really is.
From engadget
"Apple has just recalled 1.8 million iBook and PowerBook laptop batteries, 1.1 million of those in the US and 700,000 abroad"

Why is this on the front page? It's like saying that WalMart is now selling a junk tablet. Except this article says that Toys R Us and Best Buy is now selling iPads. This isn't front page news.
But it is. It represents a lot of points of distribution.
That's a big deal for retail consumer electronics.

a few things:
1. gapless playback has always been an option in itunes before this version.
2. i want the old library format back! is there a way to make it 3 little windows? (artist and albums on top and tracks on bottom?) so much scrolling involved now.

;) I agree that it's crazy to pay full price. Everyone has to know someone in college or who can at least get an educational discount. I mean of several hundred bucks, make a friend. Otherwise, yes, simply 5-10 minutes on the net can yield you the full CS Suite and all the major plug ins. I think the total available in that time is about $3,500.
I used the educational discount, but it cannot be upgraded to my knowledge. I bought Production Premium a few weeks ago and I seriously doubt I will receive an email for a free upgrade. Why should I? I paid next to nothing for the suite "as is."
Although, I hope updates will be available, especially since support will be obsolete next April. I assume updates are support and they go to the wayside after April of next year?
I never contemplated downloading a hacked version.

~Shard~ my jaw dropped when iLounge first reported the nano was 52% smaller in volume. Too bad it wasn't true, because then I would have had to get one!
You're not alone on that one! ;) :D My Engineer brain was trying to compute how that would even be possible, and to no avail... ;)

I just wonder if there is any upgrade pricing strategy. No matter what - $299 is A STEAL!
Specifically addressed after the main demo.
No upgrade pricing, versions, etc.; one price, from the app store. Period.
Considering the current FCS price...

I would pay 250. For somethings, Windows is the only viable OS. Like the commercial says, Macs are good for fun stuff, but PCs are for working.
What are the other viable alternatives? OSX and ????????
LINUX? Besides I use my Mac for my reasearch since I cant afford having M$ screwing me one more time. If you need 100% stability and security (as some professionals do) you go with with the safest system out there... and that my friend is NOT Win XP.

To all those cutting military by huge percentages, what are your plans to deal with the millions of unemployed that would produce?
To be fair, if we would make the significant cuts to balance the budget, there would be huge amounts of layoffs regardless. So we might as well destroy the jobs that don't produce long-term benefits for the country, than cutting education jobs and funding (as an example) that would definitely hurt us in the long-term.
Cuts aren't fun. :(

I actually did get confirmation that my battery qualified. Took me awhile to get onto the page, but it finally worked. After that, it let me fill out a form to send me a new battery.
I'm not too bummed this has happened; after all, my battery is only holding about 90% of its original charge. However, it's funny that I've already had a battery recalled for my 18-month old PowerBook (15-inch) so this will be the third battery for me.
